open world” Games

Open world marks titles built around a large continuous map you traverse freely, assembling quests, exploration, collecting, and combat in your own order. On GPA, we tag games where 'go there first if you want' matters more than a single corridor of progress.

※ Tags are created only when 5 or more titles share them.

What is “open world”?

Open-world design puts you in a vast seamless (or near-seamless) field where main-story beats share the map with side quests, gathering, bases, and discovery. Scale alone is not enough — freedom of movement, density of finds, and system interactions (physics, crafting, stealth, and more) create the feeling of carving a path through a world at your pace. Where linear stage games advance in a prepared sequence, open worlds make *where to start* part of the play. GPA's small-tag applies across action and RPG whenever that free movement and parallel progress is the spine of the experience.

Who is it for?

  • Get pulled by 'I want to go there' when looking at the map
  • Enjoy detours, collecting, and side quests beyond the main path
  • Want to set your own tempo for travel, exploration, and fights
  • Savor landscape and atmosphere as part of the game

Less suited for

  • Prefer the shortest route to finish the story only
  • Find long travel or checklist filling exhausting
  • Want tidy session clears without exploration downtime
