Command battle marks titles built around menu-selected attacks, defenses, and skills. On GPA, we tag games where turns, resources, and party composition matter more than pure reflex action.

What is “command battle”?

Command battles progress by choosing commands in turn-based or semi-turn systems — party and job matchups, buffs/debuffs, elemental weaknesses. Modern hybrids may add ATB, active commands, or timed parries on top. Where action combat tests execution, command combat tests reads and builds. GPA's small-tag centers JRPGs and related designs whenever that selectable combat is the spine.

Who is it for?

  • Like planning each turn
  • Enjoy job, skill, and weakness puzzles
  • Prefer JRPG rhythm of scenes and battles
  • Want to win through reads more than reflexes

Less suited for

  • Only want continuous action tempo
  • Find menus or turn waits stressful
  • Prefer testing raw mechanical reflexes over party planning
